Xiegu tease their biggest rig yet: the G7250 100W HF/6m Transceiver

Xiegu have built a reputation on small, portable, do-everything rigs; the G90, the X6100, the X6200. Now it looks like they’re going in the completely opposite direction. Radioddity, the largest official Xiegu distributor, has just put up a preview page for the Xiegu G7250, and this one is a proper desktop powerhouse: split-body design, a full 100W out, and a 7-inch touchscreen front end.

This is a “sneak peek,” so treat everything below as subject to change before the first batch actually ships, but there’s enough here to get genuinely excited about.

Split Body, Full Power

The headline feature is the “avant-garde split-type architecture” – the control head (display and buttons) separates completely from the main RF body, and the two connect over Ethernet at distances of up to 100 metres. That’s a big deal for anyone who wants the amplifier and power supply tucked away in another room, or a rack, while keeping a slim control head on the operating desk.

Behind that control head sits 100W on HF and 90W on 6m, which puts the G7250 well above the QRP-ish output of Xiegu’s portable line. No more struggling to be heard in a pile-up with 20W.

True SDR Under the Hood

Xiegu are pitching this as a proper Direct RF Sampling SDR platform, with multi-stage filters and high-Q inductors for selectivity, plus a two-stage large-dynamic preamp for good IP3 performance. On paper that’s -138dBm MDS and 0.2µV sensitivity on SSB/CW/FM – competitive numbers for the class.

The 7-inch capacitive touchscreen runs a high-res spectrum and waterfall display, and you can tap directly on a signal in the waterfall to jump straight to it – no more spinning the VFO knob hunting for a weak station. There are also 19 physical buttons alongside the touchscreen, so you’re not forced into a touch-only workflow if you don’t want one.

Other Notable Features

• Network baseband streaming – you can stream the baseband over the network into SDR software like HDSDR, which opens the door to remote receive setups.
• Built-in ATU – matches 20Ω–150Ω, tunes in under 10 seconds cold and under 0.1 seconds from memory, and it remembers settings per band.
• Voice recorder and CW messaging – handy for contest-style operating or just saving your voice for repetitive calling.

Worth repeating: Radioddity are explicit that these specs come from the current prototype and manufacturer info, and the final retail unit could differ. There’s no price yet either – right now Radioddity are just running a VIP waitlist for early access and first-batch notifications.

Given how far Xiegu have come with the X6100/X6200 line, a full 100W split-body desktop rig with this kind of SDR spec sheet is a genuinely interesting next step for the brand. We’ll update this post as soon as final specs and pricing land.
