It looks like we finally get to find out what that mysterious port on the top on the Xiegu X6200 is for. Xiegu have just released some pictures of a new module that uses the port to expand the receive coverage of the radio, adding 54MHz-1GHz RX.
According to pictures of the product manual:
WR12 is an extended component of X6200, which is internally equipped with frequency converters with good sensitivity, linearity, and adjacent channel immunity. It can down-convert the wireless signals to low intermediate frequency signals and transmit them to the X6200 host, increasing the receiving bandwidth of the X6200 host.
What does seem a little strange is than the device needs both a USB cable connected into the host port, and an antenna patch cable too. Not sure why these couldn’t be provided via the area where the device connects to the radio like we saw in the prototypes.
The Xiegu WR12 does seem to come with everything you need to use it:
- 1 x WR12 module
- 1 x Type-C to Type-C USB cable
- 1 x SMA to BNC cable
- 2 x hand screws
- User manual
- Warranty card
- 1 x hex wrench
At the moment, there are no details about release date, or recommended retail price, just these pictures without any additional details.
Xiegu also teased pictures of two new Morse keys that appear to be coming soon. Both a straight key, and a twin paddle were shown:
Like the WR12, nothing else was provided in terms of pricing or release dates. More details to follow as we hear about them.
